Free Online Chess Clock
This chess clock is for two people sharing one phone, tablet, or laptop — over the board, not against an engine. Open the page and you already have a 5+0 blitz control. Black taps Start White, then each player taps their own face after a move. When the game starts, the website tucks away so the two faces and the recessed plunger fill the screen.
Play like a physical clock
Table mode hides the header, dock, and article. On a phone in portrait, the top clock rotates 180° so the player across the table can read it — even if Flip was turned off on a desktop earlier. Landscape puts the faces left and right. Space or A / L ends the active player’s turn. Undo takes back one accidental press. Pause if someone knocks a piece; Reset starts the same time control again. Gear opens a centered settings sheet over a dim scrim; Escape or the scrim closes it without ending the game.
- Primary presets 3+2, 5+0, and 15+10, plus bullet through 30+0
- Fischer, Bronstein, delay, multi-stage (40/90+30), byo-yomi, and Canadian overtime
- Handicap, names, undo, lock, four chassis skins (Teal, Walnut, Night, Arena)
- Result card with remaining times, PGN of clock times, and a watch link for a second tab on this computer
- Shareable #5+0 / #3+2b / #40/90+30s / #10+30y5 links
Which control to pick
3+2 is the usual online blitz: three minutes plus two seconds a move, so a long think does not empty the clock. 5+0 is sudden-death blitz — no increment, flags come fast. 15+10 is rapid, closer to a club evening. Classical games can use multi-stage #40/90+30s (40 moves in 90 minutes, then 30 more). Japanese byo-yomi and Canadian overtime sit behind Club controls on the same page. Under ten seconds the thinking face draws a thin bezel and switches to tenths.
Not a tournament DGT
Browsers can pause JavaScript when a tab is hidden. Keep the screen on for games that matter. A refresh restores an in-progress or flagged game from this tab’s session for six hours and returns you to the table. Need to count up instead? Use the stopwatch. A single duration with an alert is the timer. Coordinating time zones stays on the world clock. Shift length in clock hours is the hours calculator.
